My Stress-Free Garden Therapy: Growing Okra, Pechay and String Beans and Choosing Simple Life

Today, I want to share a more personal story about our small farm this time, from my own experience as someone balancing online work and simple farm life.
I work online, and honestly, there are days when I feel really tired and stressed because of eyes tired and long working hours. That’s why our small garden became my therapy. Every time I step outside, breathe fresh air, and touch the soil, I feel calmer. It helps me slow down and clear my mind.

My husband is a farmer, so planting is already natural for him. He planted string beans and watermelon, and many more while I planted okra and pechay. I chose these because they grow fast, and as a beginner, it makes me happy to see quick results. It gives me motivation to continue.
At first, our goal was simple to have free vegetables for our meals. Just knowing that we can harvest fresh food anytime is already a big help for our family. But later on, we realized we could also sell some of our harvest.

One of the happiest moments for me is watching my daughter every morning. She loves okra so much. She just goes to the garden, picks what she wants, and enjoys it. Our garden is very close to our farm house, so it’s easy for her. Seeing her happy with something we planted makes everything worth it.

String beans became one of our best crops. Many people here really like it, so they are easy to sell. Little by little, we are earning from something that started very small. It may not be a big income yet, but it is rewarding so we can buy what we want like snacks or something meat or fish.

For me, gardening is not just about growing plants it’s also about healing. When I’m in the garden, I forget stress from work. I focus on watering, checking the plants, and appreciating their growth. It teaches me patience and consistency. Just like life, growth takes time.
I’m still learning, and I’m thankful for my husband who guides me. Because of him, everything feels easier. Gardening also became our bonding time as a family.

If there’s one thing I can share, it’s this: start small. Even if you are busy or tired, try planting something. It can help not just your daily needs, but also your heart and mind.

Thank you so much for reading my story. This is my owned picture, edited in Canva. Let’s keep growing together. Have a nice day! ☘️🌿
