Checking out a popular local eatery

I’ve walked past this snack shop so many times, and every single time there was a long line, so I never actually tried it. But that day, I went out a bit earlier to grab something to eat, and I noticed there were only three people in line. I suddenly felt like maybe it was finally worth a try, so I decided to wait a bit and grab a few lunch boxes to take home.
Actually, dining in is a better deal. The drinks and white rice are free inside the shop, which is pretty rare. Usually, small eateries charge extra for rice, around 10 to 15 NT dollars per bowl. From what I remember, not many places offer free rice. For students who are still growing, this would be amazing. You could really eat your fill. That said, the shop also has a sign reminding customers not to waste food.
From my past experience, a lot of famous places with long lines don’t really live up to the hype. But this time, the wait was worth it. I got the fried pork chop. It is golden, crispy, and super appetizing. It looked so good I couldn’t wait to take a bite. The crunch when I bit into it was basically a guarantee of quality, and then the juices slowly filled my mouth. The meat was firm but not dry at all. It is pretty solid overall. The side dishes weren’t anything special, but they helped balance out the meal.
Afterward, I realized that the shop is actually known for its grilled pork rice. I probably should’ve tried that instead. But at the moment I ordered, I was totally focused on getting the fried pork chop and completely ignored the rest of the menu. No idea why—felt like my brain just short-circuited.
I’ve passed by the shop a few more times since then, but the lines were so long again that I didn’t feel like waiting. Looks like if I ever want to try their grilled pork rice, it’ll depend on luck next time.
