We went to what will probably be the last carnival of the year, a rescheduled carnival that was supposed to take place back in March but was postponed due to bad weather. This time, the floats were almost all different from the usual ones, where sometimes some would repeat because they are made for the town and move between events, so the event was very enjoyable.

Clearly, we are well past carnival season and the effect is a bit strange, but the shows are still beautiful and the children have fun anyway, so it doesn’t matter. Once again, there wasn’t much political satire in the performances.

I don’t know why this has faded over the years; maybe they fear backlash or controversy, so when they build the floats, they go with softer themes to avoid offending anyone, I have no idea. It’s a shame because carnival is also about that. Anyway, see you next year, soon the spring fairs will start!
