I will be an exceptional mother-in-law / Yo seré una suegra excepcional - LOH contest #284 (eng-esp)

Greetings, friends.

My son is quite independent; as independent as a 10-year-old can be these days. His independence stems from his intelligence. The same intelligence that led him to have his first girlfriend.

Although at this age it can't be considered anything serious, nor can I consider myself a mother-in-law in the true sense of the word, I believe I've behaved exceptionally well. I've not only talked to my son about treating her properly, but I've also advised him in such a way that the girl feels like a princess when she's with him.

I've told him to take care of her in every way and that he can count on me for anything he needs.

For now, the most help I've given him has been the letters and poems he writes to her from time to time. However, even though I know it will most likely end with a broken heart (they're just kids, after all), I worry about my son and about her too, just as if they were adults.

I think that if I don't do this now, when they have a serious relationship, I won't, and he won't count on me for anything.

I don't think I could be a better mother-in-law than I am now. Nor do I think anything will change in the near or distant future.

My view of my daughters-in-law will always be the same: if they love and make my son happy, then I'll be like another mother to them.

It's that simple, and that's why I believe I'll be a great mother-in-law.

Mi hijo es bastante independiente; todo lo independiente que puede ser un niño de 10 años, en estos días. Su independencia se la ha dado su inteligencia. La misma inteligencia que lo llevó a tener su primera noviecita.

Aunque a esta edad no se puede considerar nada serio ni poder considerarme una suegra, en todas las de la ley, considero que me he comportado de manera excepcional; no solo he conversado con mi hijo para que la trate como debe ser, sino que le he aconsejado de tal modo, que la niña se sienta como una princesa cuando esté con él. Le he dicho que la cuide en todo sentido y que puede contar conmigo para lo que necesite.

De momento, la máxima ayuda ha sido ayudarlo con las cartas y poemas que él le escribe de vez en cuando. Sin embargo, aunque sé que lo más probable es que termine con el corazón roto (niños al fin), yo me preocupo por mi hijo y también por ella, tal y como si fueran adultos. Pienso que si no lo hago así desde ahora, cuando tengan una relación seria, no lo haré ni él contará conmigo para nada.

No creo que ahora mismo pueda ser mejor suegra e lo que soy. Tampoco creo que cambie algo en un futuro próximo o lejano. Mi forma de ver a mis nueras será la misma siempre: si quieren y hacen feliz a mi hijo, pues seré como otra madre para ella. Es así de simple y por eso, creo que seré una gran suegra.
