A Healthy Comfort Meal for an Unmotivated Day
Today I felt unusually uninspired and not motivated enough to do much. Maybe it was because of lack of sleep, or maybe I was just really exhausted from work. Whatever the reason was, it was not the kind of feeling that I like to have. It is one of those moods that can affect everything, not just my energy level but also my routine and lifestyle. Even something that has become very important to me lately did not happen tonight, and that was my usual night cycling. It felt odd because whenever I get the opportunity, I almost always go for a ride.

Cycling has become such a meaningful part of my day because it helps me stay active and keeps me moving toward my fitness goals. It is also one of the ways I burn extra calories, and I genuinely enjoy doing it, which makes it even better. I think that is why I felt the absence of it more strongly tonight. When something healthy becomes part of your rhythm, you really notice it when it is missing.

Since I did not manage to go cycling tonight, I thought I might as well do something else that also contributes to my well-being in a different way. And of course, that something is food LOL. Good food may not replace physical activity, but I do believe that choosing a nourishing and satisfying meal is also part of taking care of myself. So instead of forcing myself to do more when my body clearly wanted something gentler, I decided to treat myself to something wholesome that I had not eaten in quite a while.
Tonight’s choice was Seafood Spinach Soup, which has always been one of my top picks whenever I want something that feels healthy but still tastes really good. It is funny how the name of the dish is basically a triple “S,” but simple as it sounds, this dish really hits the spot for me every time.

What made the experience even nicer was that the stall owner was actually surprised to see me again because it had been months since the last time I ordered from them. But honestly, I was just as surprised that they still remembered me and even remembered the dish that I usually like to order. That was such a nice little moment. Maybe I somehow left a memorable impression on their day or on their business for them to remember both me and my order LOL. Whatever the reason, it made me smile.
Jokes aside, I am genuinely thankful that food stalls like this exist. There is something really comforting about people who are passionate about serving food that is both tasty and nourishing. It makes a difference. You can feel it not just in the meal itself, but in the whole experience of buying from them.
As for the soup, it was exactly the kind of dinner I needed tonight. Spinach already makes me feel like I am doing something good for myself, and then the rest of the ingredients made the dish even more satisfying. The fresh minced meat added richness, while the seafood gave it sweetness and depth. The eggs and mushrooms made the bowl feel more filling and complete. Altogether, it was one of those meals that brings comfort without feeling too heavy.
Overall, even though I was not feeling my best today, this dinner reminded me that taking care of myself can come in different forms. Sometimes it is cycling. Sometimes it is rest. And sometimes, it is simply sitting down with a warm bowl of soup that feels both delicious and nourishing.
Bon appétit.
