El Inter de Milán domina en Italia / Inter Milan dominates in Italy

En una de las temporadas con menos brillantes en la Serie A, donde los equipos grandes de Italia están pasando por un bajón deportivo, como el Milán y la Juventus, que no terminan de consolidar sus proyectos, y donde también vemos a otros que pese a ser poco relevantes desde un punto de vista histórico, están dando de que hablar en la zona alta de la tabla, como el Como Cesc Fabregas, o la Atalanta, que no le afectó tanto como hubiera pensado la salida de Gian Piero Gasperini.

In one of the least brilliant seasons in Serie A, where the big teams in Italy are going through a sporting slump, such as Milan and Juventus, who are not quite consolidating their projects, and where we also see others who, despite being little relevant from a historical point of view, are making headlines in the upper part of the table, such as Como Cesc Fabregas, or Atalanta, who were not affected as much as they might have thought by the departure of Gian Piero Gasperini.

Pero más allá de esto, hay una variable que se ha mantenido al menos en los últimos 5 años, el Inter de Milán. A falta solo de que sigan avanzado la fechas, los nerazzurri van a ser campeones de la Serie A, lo que significaría tercer título en este período de tiempo, y aunque no ha sido un dominio tan aplastante como el de la Juventus en la década pasada, pienso que puede tener igual mérito, pues las condiciones de ambos equipos, distaban bastante, sobre todo en los económico.

But beyond that, there's one variable that has remained constant for at least the last five years: Inter Milan. With only the final matches to be played, the Nerazzurri are set to be crowned Serie A champions, which would be their third title in this period. And while their dominance hasn't been as overwhelming as Juventus's in the last decade, I think it's equally impressive, given the vastly different circumstances of the two clubs, especially financially.

En el Mundial de Clubes el nivel del equipo fue muy irregular, quedando fuera en la fase de grupos, por lo que no causó las mejores sensaciones en sus primeras semanas.

El inicio en esta Serie A tampoco fue el mejor, pues en las primeras 8 jornadas ya habían encajado 3 derrotas, manteniéndose 3 puntos por detrás en la clasificación tanto de Roma como del Napoli. Pero a partir de aquí todo cambió, volviendo a dominar con mano de hierro en Italia, y comparando al meridiano de la competición, no sólo eran los líderes con 45 puntos, sino que además eran la mejor delantera, y en esos 11 partidos extra, solo recibieron 4 goles en contra, empezando a marcar una tendencia.

Coincidiendo con las eliminatorias en Champions, donde defraudaron al caer frente al Bodo por 5 a 2 en el global, pese a ser los subcampeones actuales, por la liga también cayeron en un bache de rendimiento, sumando 3 fechas sin victorias, lo que permitió que tanto Milán como Napoli se acercaran en la clasificación. Pero en los dos más recientes juegos, golearon a la Roma y vencieron al Como, coincidiendo con malos resultados de sus perseguidores, que no pudieron demostrar estar a la altura del reto.

Coinciding with their Champions League knockout stage campaign, where they disappointed by falling to Borussia Dortmund 5-2 on aggregate despite being the current runners-up, they also hit a rough patch in the league, going three matches without a win. This allowed both Milan and Napoli to close the gap in the standings. However, in their two most recent games, they thrashed Roma and defeated Como, coinciding with poor results from their pursuers, who failed to demonstrate they were up to the challenge.

A falta de 6 jornadas, y con 9 puntos de diferencia frente al Napoli, ya parece imposible que los puedan alcanzar, e incluso viendo el calendario que les queda, es casi ya seguro que conseguirán esta Serie A, donde a decir verdad, tenia en mente otros favoritos, que con el pasar de las fechas, se fueron desinflando, aunque siento que eso no es más que un reflejo general de lo que es Italia hoy en día.

With 6 matchdays remaining, and a 9-point lead over Napoli, it already seems impossible for them to catch up, and even looking at the remaining schedule, it's almost certain they'll win this Serie A title. To be honest, I had other favorites in mind, who gradually faded as the season progressed, although I feel that's just a general reflection of what Italy is like today.

Para el siguiente año, el equipo tendrá que vender varios de sus jugadores más importantes, pues su situación económica es delicada, aunque si tengo que decir algo en este apartado, su capacidad de captar jugadores libres o con bajo costo de traspaso es lo que los ha llevado a donde están ahora. Jugadores como Calhanoglu, Zielinski o Arnautovic han llegado por este medio, y poco o mucho, han sido importantes para los resultados recientes de los nerazzurri.

For next year, the team will have to sell several of its most important players, as its financial situation is precarious. Pienso que equipos como el Como, siempre y cuando mantenga la base de su proyecto, o la Juventus, en un segundo año con Massimiliano Allegri en su banquillo, podrían ser dos de las revelaciones del torneo, aunque viendo la dinámica que ha tomado Italia, el Inter seguirá siendo uno de los favoritos al título, y si logran seguir manteniendo su base del plantel, no solo serán los campeones defensores, sino el equipo a vencer.

I think teams like Como, as long as they maintain the core of their project, or Juventus, in a second year with Massimiliano Allegri at the helm, could be two of the revelations of the tournament. However, given the way Italy has developed, Inter will remain one of the favorites for the title, and if they manage to keep their squad together, they will not only be the defending champions, but the team to beat.
