THE POWER OF DESIRE How can a person distinguish between a healthy desire that fuels growth and an unhealthy one that leads to constant dissatisfaction?
Hello #scifimultiverse family, trust your day is going well.
Desire can be defined as being passionate about something. It may be emotionally driven, or a physical item, skill, knowledge, or position. While at the university, I had a strong desire to become a customer service representative. Then, I do watch some adverts showcasing customer service reps on television and in newspapers. That desire was born out of my hunger to help people resolve problems, especially in the tech-driven space. Do not forget that we have been empowered from creation with the power of desire and to make good choices.

After graduation, a persistent search for fulfillment led me to the telecommunications organisation, where I launched my career as a call centre representative. I served in the inbound, outbound, and KYC centres.
After fulfilling that desire, a stronger one arose to become a voice for people in organisations. I sat down and, for many months, tried to chart a way around it and finally had to switch careers to human resources management.
Doing that took resilience, persistence, upgrade, and rigorous study to brush myself up and get acquainted with the skills needed to succeed in the role. And today, I am happy with the pace at which I am growing on the job and where I am.
Now, distinguishing between a healthy desire that fuels growth and an unhealthy one that leads to constant dissatisfaction? The former must come with set objectives or goals, must be intentional, and there should be a plan to state the current phase and where I want to be. Those desires must be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound (SMART)
On the other hand, desires can lead to constant dissatisfaction when they are unhealthy, such as unrealistic and unachievable desires. When desires are not specific, for example, wanting everything and not specific things that can be logically and judiciously pursued and attained. Such desires can be frustrating to fulfil and may lead to mental and physical unhealthy competition. It can lead to brain drainage and imbalance.

Additionally, sometimes, we begin to nurse a strong desire for something but get distracted from its fulfillment either by mere challenges, procrastination, lack of direction, or the wherewithal to make it happen. Therefore, it is vital to set up a roadmap for the fulfilment of desires once triggered in our subconscious, else, they will end up as mere wishes
In conclusion, while desire sets us hungry for action in our subconscious, we need direction and SMART goals to get us to the promised land of that desire. Desire +Action = Fulfilment
