ilka dni temu kuzynka zawstydziła mnie zdjęciami z ogrodu Keukenhof. Napisała, że skoro ona dotarła tam aż z Polski, to wstyd, że my – mieszkając tak blisko – przez tyle lat nie znaleźliśmy na to czasu. Szybko sprawdziłem prognozę pogody na środę i zamówiłem bilety. W ten sposób znaleźliśmy się w ogrodzie botanicznym Keukenhof nieopodal Amsterdamu. To przepiękne miejsce i pogoda nam dopisała, a jedynym minusem były nieprzebrane tłumy odwiedzających. Podobno w środku tygodnia ludzi jest mniej niż w weekendy – jeśli tak, to nie chciałbym tam być w sobotę ani w niedzielę.
[ENG] A few days ago, my cousin put me to shame with photos from the Keukenhof gardens. She said that since she made it there all the way from Poland, it's a shame that we—living so close—haven't found the time for it in all these years. I quickly checked the weather forecast for Wednesday and booked tickets. That’s how we ended up at the Keukenhof botanical garden near Amsterdam. It’s a stunning place, and the weather was on our side; the only downside was the endless crowds of visitors. Apparently, there are fewer people during the week than on weekends—if that's true, I wouldn't want to be there on a Saturday or Sunday.
Główną atrakcją ogrodu są setki gatunków tulipanów, które właśnie o tej porze rozkwitają. Z tego powodu ogród jest otwarty tylko przez kilka tygodni w roku (obecnie od 19 marca do 10 maja), co wyjaśnia tak ogromne zainteresowanie nawet w dni powszednie.
[ENG] The main attraction of the garden is the hundreds of tulip species blooming at this time of year. For this reason, the garden is only open for a few weeks annually (currently from March 19th to May 10th), which explains the massive interest even in the middle of the week.
