Hello internet people, how are you? Today I'm here to talk to you about Coraline, a novel I read years ago after I was fascinated by the movie, finding great psychological depth.
Hola, gente de internet ¿como están? hoy vengo a hablarles de Coraline, una novela que leí hace aññños depsués que yo quedé fascinada con la película, encontrando una gran profundidad psicologica.
It all begins with a big change: Coraline and her parents move to a new city, to an old house. Coraline feels a great longing for her friends and the life she left behind. She feels frustrated and ignored by her parents, who are always preoccupied with their own affairs. But one day, she finds a door that leads her to an alternate dimension with a very different version of her parents. These two seem more attentive and kind, but there's one big difference: they both have buttons instead of eyes. Gradually, "The Other Mother" becomes more possessive, even asking Coraline to stay, but in exchange, she must replace her eyes with buttons. Coraline refuses and then discovers that this woman is actually a witch who traps children's souls.
Todo inicia con un gran cambio, Coraline y sus padres se mudan a otra ciudad, a una vieja casa, Coraline siente una gran nostalgia por sus amigos y la vida que dejó atrás, se siente frustrada e ignorada por sus padres, los cuales siempre están ocupados en sus propios asuntos, pero un día ella encuentra una puerta que la conduce a una dimensión alternativa con una version mas diferente de sus padres, estos parecen más atentos y amables, sin embargo hay una gran diferencia, ambos tienen botones en lugar de ojos. Paulatinamente "La otra madre" comiena a volverse más posesiva, incluso le pide que se quede pero a cambio debe remplazar sus ojos por botones, Coraline se niega y entomces descubre que esa mujer realmente es una bruja que atrapa el alma de los niños
I think the book is about courage and overcoming fears. The first of these is the fear of change, not only the change of environment but also the changes that come with age. Coraline is going through a difficult time, but in this process, she learns to face her fears, confront them, and overcome them. The door to that other world might suggest the temptation to evade responsibilities or even fears; however, if we don't exercise good control over them, they end up controlling us. The buttons on her eyes are perhaps an allegory for escaping reality.
Creo que el libro habla sobre la valentía y la superación de miedos, el primero de ellos es el miedo a los cambios, no solo al cambio de entorno, sino también a los cambios propios de la edad, Coraline atraviesa por una edad complicada, pero en este proceso ella aprende a afrontar sus miedos, a encararlos y superarlos. La Puerta a ese otro mundo podría sugerir tal vez la tentación de evadir las responsabilidades o también los miedos, sin embargo si no se ejerce un buen dominio sobre ellos, son ellos los que terminan controlándonos. Los botones en los ojos quizá son una alegoría a evadir la realidad.
The pacing is excellent; you never get bored because something interesting is always happening. It includes flashbacks that help us better understand the characters and empathize with them. The author's language is not at all complicated, so it's very easy to connect with the book regardless of age.
El ritmo de la narración es muy bueno, no llegas a aburrirte en ningún momento pues siempre surge algo interesante. Tiene algunos flash backs que nos ayudan a entender mejor los personajes y a empatizar con ellos. El lenguaje que usa el autor no es paa nada complicado, así que es muy fácil sentir una buena conexión con el libro sin importar la edad.
Breo que uno de los mensajes más sólidos que tiene esta novela es la idea de que el mundo real en el que vivimos, a veces podría parecer gris, monótono y vacío, pero cualquier intento de evasion de esa realidad nos nubla el criterio, además, somos nosotros con nuestras propias vivencias quienes ponemos matices a la vida.
