Hivebounty Update - Projects
Open bounties have always worked well when you want competition: post a job, let people submit, pick the best one. The model falls apart the moment a project actually needs to assign someone specific (instead of competing on a work level, you compete on a qualified for the task level instead). Two contributors can do the same work, only one gets paid, and the other finds out too late.
So Projects now does assignment-based tasks on HiveBounty.

What's new
- contributors can apply before starting work
- owners can accept an applicant or assign someone directly
- only the assigned contributor can submit the delivery
- task discussion is private by default, and owners can lock it to private only
- assignees can request deadline extensions when the owner allows it
- owners can extend deadlines directly, and every change is recorded on the task
- funded assigned tasks can't be quietly cancelled and refunded by the owner
Escrow itself hasn't changed. HIVE, HBD, and Hive Engine tokens are still supported, funding still has to match exactly, and payouts and refunds stay visible on-chain.
Why it matters for DHF projects
DHF-funded projects need a paper trail. With the intense focus on the DHF and accountability, I had DHF funded projects in mind when I built this. Project tasks now produce one: who was assigned, when the work was due, whether the deadline shifted and why, what was discussed on the task, and when escrow was paid out or disputed.
Keep the conversation on the task
Project work has a way of scattering across Discord, Telegram, DMs, and random comment threads. That makes delivery harder and disputes nearly impossible to sort out fairly. Keeping conversation on the task itself gives owners a single place to operate from, gives contributors something concrete to point to, and gives moderators real evidence if they have to step in.
Open bounties are still the right tool when you want competition. Project tasks are the right tool when you already know what you want, and you just need the work done.
