The soothing sound of falling rain is the first impression my sleepy mind gets upon firing up the consciousness. After the alarm clock, which is rather automatically turned off immediately. Myriads of little drops pattering on the translucid plastic roofing right below my window, accompanied by a chilly breeze as soon as I unhook the lock and open it. And it doesn’t take long for Nero to hop in. A look of reproach, then shaking the water off his fur. Almost nothing, but enough for him to be mad at me, apparently. Not for long. Never for long.

It’s market day, and I wish the rain to stop this time. It does, and it gets quite hot, which I didn’t plan for. At least I can pull the sleeves of my beautiful black & blue designer shirt (made by my brother in law, who designed it) up to my elbows. But black definitely wasn’t a good choice for today. Sales aren’t bad, but also not stunning. Still enough to make it worth my while.

Coming home I read another chapter to Lily. Her mom had received the first notification of my first legal action against her, and Lily had sent me a voice message saying that she was not allowed to send me more voice messages anymore, but that I could send her some and that she would like me to keep reading the book. I knew that was going to happen – as soon as the mother would notice the legal actions against her wrongdoings, she would try to cut my contact with Lily. Apparently, she’s not able to do so completely this time, probably because Lily is older and negotiated the compromise of being allowed to listen to my messages. Still, that she even has to do so is sad.

Which made me even more motivated to wrap up the second and more important lawsuit. I had to get a couple of copies, sign one, send it to my lawyer in Quito, and then march over to the court building at the entrance of town. Quite the walk, as it’s down to the creek, then up. Pretty sure the round trip was around 4k steps.

I ended the day with a nice dinner with my friend Mr. K, who’s also my landlord at the bakery/restaurant building. A small part was business talk and setting somethings right, but mostly it was just us having a great time.

I did write a post today, too, about an afternoon out last weekend. @beelzael/theyre-just-here" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Click here if you’re interested. That’s it for tonight – sleep well!
