Phillies offense wakes up in their victory over the Cubs! | Aaron Nola on the mound today
Well, after a serious streak of subpar slugging by the Phillies, the offense woke up and scored a season high thirteen runs on their way to a 13-7 victory yesterday. As dominant as it was, the game shouldn't have even come that close as the fellas must have fallen asleep a bit towards the end of the game. The Cubs managed to put up five runs in the eighth to make the score look a little prettier.
While that was mildly annoying, that's really the only complaint, because the Phillies offense was just unlocked yesterday. All but one Phillie in the starting lineup recorded a hit. Edmundo Sosa pinch hit and got a hit, Otto Kemp pinch hit as well and while he didn't get a hit, he walked. The Phillies recorded a fantastic fifteen hits in total! J.T. Realmuto, who looked like he might be dealing with a potential injury a few days ago seems perfectly ok as he went 3 for 5 with 3 RBI. Brandon Marsh continues to be on track for a career season as he went 3 for 4 with a walk, and 2 RBI. Adolis García who has been mildly underwhelming in 2026, looked good and went 2 for 4 with an RBI himself.
Oh yeah, and Kyle Schwarber hit TWO homers! He's now got six in 2026! Now THAT'S a solid pace! I wonder what his home run total will be by the end of the day on September 27th?

The first one he hit, he dropped to a knee doing so. Man, what a joy it is to watch this man play. I hope he's a Phillie for the rest of his career. https://youtube.com/shorts/q5IwvOSrNog?si=uZ5zsO4PKyiJcMwj Src
Let's hope the Phillies don't go ahead and score less than three the next three games now, LOL. While it would be great to see them score thirteen every game, that's clearly unrealistic. I just hope they find some better consistency offensively!
Aaron Nola takes the mound to try and win this series vs the Cubs. Nola has looked sorta kinda like his old self but it's a bit too early to tell for sure. There's hints of summer in the air in the Philly area so hopefully the warmth can provide additional good vibes after yesterday's game.
Should be fun!
