A's struggle in loss vs Rangers | Jeffrey Springs on the mound today
Ah yes, the Rangers came to play yesterday. Nathan Eovaldi was absolutely dealing unfortunately and the A's just kept swinging into the wind.
For the A's, Luis Severino had a rough first inning before settling down pretty quickly for the most part. Had he had a better first inning, the domino effect of the game could have played out a bit differently. Jake Burger of the Rangers really had Severino's number in particular as he hit two homers and had four RBI. Yikes.
As I am only beginning covering the A's more closely, I learned that Brent Rooker has been out and has no set date to return which is obviously not ideal. Shea Langeliers is a pretty promising player who plays catcher. I also am intrigued by Carlos Cortes's potential. But yeah, I am still learning. It was nice to Lawrence Butler hit a solo homer and prevent the A's from getting shutout.
Just going with the flow here! It's such an awesome feeling re-entering the A's fandom once again. Looking at my blog yesterday and seeing both the A's and Phillies blogs on there was just a tremendous feeling. Who knew such a simple idea would fix my conflicted feelings regarding the teams! Just cover both, it feels great!
I've covered the Phillies for a long time here. But for further proof, for the record that I have always been an A's guy as well as a Phillies guy, I will share a pretty personal memory of mine. Not that I care to prove anything to anyone, but it's fun to share some things I suppose. When I was a kid, I had this little scrap book where I'd write about sports, draw athletes, print pictures, cut pictures/articles out of newspapers or magazines, write about life goals. I'd even sometimes keep track of my other favorite things in general, like Harry Potter or something. But mostly it was a little sports journal.
It was basically my personal blog before my Hive blog LOL. This booklet is a wicked trip down memory lane. It's like a packet of physical nostalgia. It's a wonder I haven't lost it and it's still intact. This feels like some personal ancient artifact or something HA. Life before the internet...
Here's just a few of the contents within...

These pics are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the contents of this booklet. There's more kinda personal things within, there's Titans/NFL stuff in it, NBA things, magazine covers and cut out images of many types. I would keep track of sports seasons etc. The last addition was in 2011 when I ran out of pages. I started it in roughly late 2006.
Yeah I guess I've been blogging my whole life in a way. It's wild how now, even a few of these pages I kept in my journal are now online forever. Pretty cool.
Where did the time go?
But yeah anyway it's now 2026 and the A's play the Rangers tonight! Jeffrey Springs is on the mound for the A's as he faces his old team in the Rangers. From what I gather, Springs has been used both as a starter and reliever throughout his career. Clearly a capable, solid pro.
I look forward to getting to know the squad more.
Six hours of baseball!! Let's go!
